Migration changes access and synchronization paths, DNS, identity, database connections, storage, backups, disaster recovery and user entry points. Formerly local traffic may traverse dedicated circuits, VPN, SD-WAN, the internet, regional backbones or VPC/VNet boundaries. Bandwidth, delay, jitter, loss and detours affect cutover windows and performance.
Bulk transfers, object storage, replication and regional synchronization are network-sensitive. Limited bandwidth lengthens migration; delay reduces TCP goodput; loss and micro-outages cause retries, failures and timeouts. Problems may emerge only when migration scale, user concurrency and actual cloud paths combine, threatening windows, rollback and experience.
Establish a baseline, reproduce target cloud paths in the lab, and test migration and application access under varied conditions. Monitor during and after migration, then compare results to answer: what is the current baseline, can target paths carry the workload, and is performance maintained?
