Configured Delay Has No Effect
Saving parameters does not establish that traffic traverses the intended link. Check in this order before changing parameters repeatedly.
01 Establish an Unimpaired Baseline
Save the current configuration. Once other tests will not be affected, use the same endpoints and traffic without impairments to record RTT or response time.
Confirm traffic passes inline through the emulator rather than another path.
02 Check Engine, Port Pair and Traffic Matching
Select the physically connected engine/port pair and Emulation mode. Check that ingress filters route this traffic to the target virtual link.
Send traffic and confirm target-link counters increase. If ports show traffic but the link does not, inspect matching rules first.
03 Check Direction, Units and Enable State
A → B and B → A are independent. Enable delay in the intended direction, select ms and apply the settings.
Start with a clear 100 ms fixed-delay comparison. Select Fixed on multifunction models or Constant on FPGA models.
04 Interpret Results along the Round-Trip Path
If requests and responses use the same port pair, 100 ms in one direction adds about 100 ms to baseline RTT; 100 ms in each direction adds about 200 ms.
Repeat and compare with baseline. Investigate remaining differences using counters, before/after captures and logs to verify direction and path. Restore the original configuration afterward.
